Rouge Dior, Reinvented

by Pressroom

An iconic lipstick is reborn.

Born out of Christian Dior’s passion and desire to dress women and their smiles, the Rouge Dior lipstick was created in 1953 and became a truly iconic fashion statement. This year, the icon returns in a newly designed case embellished with silver trim and decorated with a ring featuring the Dior initials, echoing the fitted waists of the designs reinterpreted each season. It also returns to its original concept of being refillable.

Red is the colour of life.

A red lip is the insignia of femininity and can brighten up any look. Rouge Dior has found the perfect balance between pigment and lip care, with a new formula backed by the House’s floral science. The protective properties of red peony preserve the lips’ natural moisture, while the nourishing pomegranate blossom extract makes for comfortable wear. Combined with shea butter to ensure a smooth and even application, the formula blurs fine lines and doesn’t feather, so colours appear more intense than ever.

Red makes a true statement, while nude has become the everyday shade.

While the red lip remains a classic, the nude lipstick has become an everyday favourite. But nude translates differently on every woman and different skin tones. The new line-up offers 75 shades globally, from light beige to rosewood, each with its own subtle nuances to achieve your ideal look. 4 of these shades have also attained iconic status – 999 Velvet (a sensual crimson red), 100 Nude Look (the perfect blend of grey and beige), 080 Red Smile (a vibrant luminous red), and 525 Chérie (a rosewood nude).

Colour preferences are subjective, and so are lipstick finishes. Besides the legendary vibrant satin and highly pigmented matte finishes, the lipsticks will also come in two new finishes – a long-lasting, extra-matte ‘velvet’ that promises 16 hours of comfort without drying out the lips, and a bright, bold ‘metallic’. Each lipstick features a texture specific to one of the 4 fabric-inspired finishes inherited from Dior’s history.

For more defined lips, you can match your lip colour of choice with one of the 24 new shades of lip liner in the Dior Contour line. To complete the look, Dior Vernis also comes in the signature 999 shade, so you can wear the iconic shade on your nails. The formula, which promises extreme gel shine and long wear, is enriched with peony and pistachio extracts for the first time, to strengthen the nail surface.
