The iconic Love bangle keeps it classy and contemporary with a new brushed finish.
What is love? The one eternal question that can yield a million different answers.
In 1969, Cartier came up with a daring statement of love in the form of an oval bangle with visible screws – functional and decorative – boldly expressing the raw emotion that others might choose to hide. Bound by love, the design also requires two people to wear and remove by using a specific screwdriver that accompanies the bangle.
A brilliant take on Cartier’s design codes, the enigmatic screws hark back to those gracing the bezel of the Santos de Cartier watch since 1904. At once making the Love bracelet recognisable as a Cartier creation, the screw detail also exudes an undeniable, androgynous charm. Designed by Aldo Cipullo, the visible screws are perfectly parallel to the clean lines of the bracelet, complementing the flat top and elliptical arcs enjoined by functional screws.
The Cartier Love bracelet’s forward design and unique proposition made it an enduring icon that has adorned the wrists of men and women all over the world since its inception. Stacked or worn on its own, the Love bracelet’s timeless appeal lies in its defined lines and precise proportions that embrace the wrist comfortably throughout everyday movement.
More than half a decade later, this icon of the jewellery world now takes on a new brushed finish in 18K white (SGD 11,300) or yellow gold (SGD 10,500). The polished screws form an interesting contrast to the brushed texture of the bangle. A worthy addition to the Love collection, the brushed gold is stunning on its own, or paired with the shiny finish of earlier iterations.
