Six artists unique take on the iconic Capucines bag.
Louis Vuitton first introduced the Capucines in 2013, named after the Parisian street – Rue des Capucines – where Louis Vuitton opened his first shop. It has since been reimagined in many distinct iterations, and this optimal “blank canvas” has been extended for free-play, to six leading international artists: Sam Falls, Urs Fischer, Nicholas Hlobo, Alex Israel, Tschabalala Self, and Jonas Wood.
The resulting creations celebrate the creativity of the designers, as well as the innovation and know-how of the House’s workshops: from the extreme accuracy of the dyeing leather patchwork on the bag by Tschabala Self; and the complex mother-of-pearl work by Sam Fall.
The removable, hand-crafted fruits and vegetables of Urs Fischer’s impish design can be hung as a whimsical charm on the bag.
Each #ArtyCapucines design is produced in limited and numbered edition of 300 pieces, and will be available for order from 25 June 2019.
