Net-a-Porter: Tees that Make a Difference

by Pressroom

Net-A-Porter celebrates International Women’s Day with 20 exclusive t-shirts that support charity group Women for Women International.

Can buying a t-shirt help make a difference in someone’s life? Net-A-Porter says yes, and to celebrate International Women’s Day and its 20th birthday, the online luxury fashion and beauty retailer will be launching 20 exclusive t-shirts, with all profits* from their sale going to the charity Women for Women International.

“This is such a meaningful project for us at Net-A-Porter. We feel incredibly honoured to be raising money for Women for Women International by bringing together inspiring and creative women from our industry in support of the charity’s critical work,” says Alison Loehnis, President of Net-A-Porter & Mr Porter.

Now entering its third year of partnership with Women for Women International, Net-A-Porter’s campaigns in 2018 and 2019 have already supported more than 300 women in war-torn countries. Women for Women International helps women survivors of war move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency. Their training programme empowers these women by teaching them how to earn and save money, improve their family’s health, and make lasting change in their communities. The charity also provides them with a support network of women who have experienced similar trauma.

“Our International Women’s Day campaign perfectly embodies the sentiment that so much can be achieved when women come together. 20 years of NET-A-PORTER and 20 awe-inspiring designers, standing alongside women who are often forgotten and left behind after experiencing indescribable trauma. We are so grateful to everyone involved and this year hope to raise enough funds to transform the lives of hundreds more women survivors of war,” shares Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Vice President for Europe & External Relations, Women for Women International.

Women empowerment is thus the theme of the t-shirt designs. Each of the 20 t-shirts carries a unique message and the designer’s signature style. The 20 designers include:

Alexa Chung, Amina Muaddi, Bernadette, Carine Roitfeld, Cecilie Bahsen, Charlotte Tilbury, Gabriela Hearst, Ganni, Incredible Woman, Isabel Marant, Jimmy Choo, Nanushka, Rosie Assoulin, Rotate, Roxanne Assoulin, Staud, Stella McCartney, The Attico, The Frankie Shop, The Range, and Net-A-Porter x Ninety Percent.

All celebrations deserve balloons and this day is no different. International Women’s Day is a celebration of womanhood but also a reminder that there is a long way to go for women’s rights and equality globally.

Alexa Chung

We must support and empower each other, and provide encouragement to the women around us. I feel most powerful as a woman when I’m being honest and when I’m not compromising who I am.

Stella McCartney

For me, kindness is a priority. It’s how we treat ourselves, others, and nature. It should sit at the core of all our relationships.

Roxanne Assoulin
