It’s gold, diamonds, colourful stones and Perlée when it comes to VCA’s latest collection.
Signature gold beads, check. Variations allowed? Yes. Beautifully handcrafted? Oh yes.
The new Perlée collection from haute jewellery maker Van Cleef & Arpels is fairly simple to surmise : the handcrafted gold beads that give each piece that lovely and eye catching texture remain. But this time, expect some bright hues of gems to jazz up the necklace and also more permutations to the earrings, pendants, rings and our favourite – the secret watches.
The long necklace is set on a yellow gold chain and features a distinct pendant made of three different beaded loops. The central loop can be removed and interchanged with beads of turquoise, coral or onyx. This makes the necklace versatile as it can be worn in at least four different ways depending on your outfit of the day.
Likewise for the watches and earrings, colour accents from the polished gems of malachite, turquoise and carnelian take centrestage to set off the yellow, white and rose gold options. Also the rings are bands of high quality diamonds fringed with gold and can be worn alone or altogether.

A first for this collection, Van Cleef & Arpels show off their watchmaking prowess with two styles of secret jewellery timepieces, in the form of an open bangle and pendant that discreetly covers the dial. The bracelet watches come in two different sizes while the larger version pivots to show off a mother-of-pearl face embraced in a ring of dazzling diamonds. Again, the interchangeability offered by colour options of the gems are available . There is also a necklace watch in rose gold paved with diamonds and a long chain style inspired by the European styles of the 17th century.
Again, the commitment to handcrafted artistry is not forgotten here in the discreet Perlée watch creations. The gold frames are created in French artisanal workshops while the dials and movements are assembled in Switzerland. Many will enjoy the fact that these watches are equal parts jewellery and timekeepers thanks to the beautifully paved pendant that covers the dial.
