Piaget: Beam on Kong Hyo-Jin

by Pressroom

Award winning actress Kong Hyo-Jin is newly minted Piaget brand ambassador for Asia Pacific.

Since starting her acting career in 1999, Kong Hy-Jin has taken on a spectrum of roles in television, film and on stage. Her strong performances gave her credence as a serious actress and earned her numerous acting awards in Korea, to include Best Actress trophies from the Korean Film Awards, and Director’s Cut Awards. With her elegant style and confidence, Kong Hyo-Jin is the epitome of the Piaget woman of today.

She answers six pertinent questions on Life, Inspiration, Collection Choices, and Style:

How does the phrase “Sunny Side of Life” resonate with you?

Kong: My “Sunny Side of Life” is my family, my friends, my work as an actress and my three dogs. They all bring so much joy and positive energy to my life and they cast a sunny light on me.

Turn and Shine (tagline for the Possession collection): where do you find the confidence to always move forward and assume all your different roles as a woman?

Kong: To me, the phrase means to always look at the positive side of things. Perseverance, discipline and hard work is key and I know this is how I will reach my dreams even though I may encounter obstacles along the way. There is always a rainbow waiting for me at the end. As an actress, I am very lucky to play different roles. The different roles allow me to grow as an actress and also as a person. Every role that I choose to play gives me the opportunity to learn something, and over time it gives me confidence in life.

What is your best source of inspiration?

Kong: I have always had a keen interest of what’s happening around the world. When I am relaxed and stress – free, I am inspired by many things – nature and people. I tend to observe everything that is happening around me, especially when I travel. This absolutely relaxes me!

What is the first word/phrase that comes to mind for each of the following colours?

Kong:

Red – a powerful woman

Blue – equality

Green – intelligence

Gold – leisurely style

Turquoise – free spirits enjoying global travels

Black – eternal chic

White – leadership with integrity

What is your favourite product/collection from Piaget?

Kong: I love them all! I can’t choose. They all have wonderful stories behind them and they are all amazing. The Possession rings, for example, are so versatile. I can wear them with any outfit, either worn alone or in a multitude of combinations. What I love best is their rotating bands. They seem to give me infinite positive possibilities whenever I turn them and I simply cannot resist turning them all the time. The Gala watch is another one of my favourites. It is so elegant and feminine. Each time I put on a Gala watch, I feel like I not only wearing a watch but a piece of jewellery!

What are your best tips on how to incorporate a piece of jewelry or watch in styling a look?

Kong: A piece of jewellery or a watch can certainly elevate an outfit. I usually select these after I have put on the outfit for the day or a special occasion. Having the right creation can complete the look or give the look a totally new vibe and provide a sense of confidence to the person.

For the ambassadorial brand film, Kong Hyo-Jin personally chose her favourite Piaget rings, pendants, bangles, earrings and watches. Her picks include the Piaget Possession watch with a paved dial together with open bangles, a pendant paved with diamonds, hoops earrings and various rings for the perfect casual look for a sunny afternoon. For the elegant evening out, she created a more feminine mood with the vibrant Limelight Gala Milanese gold watch and a Sunlight pendant set with a central white opal. Watch the film here.

I am inspired by the beautiful stories behind each Piaget creation, how design and craftsmanship are so important. I look forward to discovering more stories to share with you in the coming days!
