IWC: Changing Stripes

by Pressroom

IWC x SBTG limited-edition watch strap set combines military and streetwear elements for a new contemporary feel.

Swiss luxury watch brand IWC is collaborating with Singaporean streetwear designer Mark Ong aka Mr. Sabotage to create a limited-edition watch strap set, particularly for its iconic Pilot’s Watches.

Emblazoned with the renowned sneaker customiser’s signature green camouflage graphics, the calfskin watch straps are available in two different widths and in limited quantities globally on IWC.com, and exclusively at IWC ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands boutiques from 20 October 2022, as well as at the Top Gun Exhibition currently in town.

The IWC Top Gun Exhibition will showcase professional military watches and pieces from the current collection as well as a host of unique experiences such as watchmaking classes, talks, and coffee workshops. Admission to public is free, but registration prior to entry is mandatory. Interested visitors can pre-register and book their preferred date and time priority entry here. Walk-ins are allowed but will be subjected to mandatory on-site registration and hourly venue capacity.

What: IWC Top Gun Exhibition
Where: Design Orchard, Level 3, 250 Orchard Road, Singapore 238905
When: 22 to 30 October 2022, 12pm to 9pm (Monday to Friday), 11am to 9pm (Saturday & Sunday)

The strap with a width of 20/18mm is suitable for the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX, Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41, Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire, Pilot’s Watch Automatic Top Gun, and the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII.

The strap with a width of 21/18mm can be fitted on the new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph in 43 mm, the Big Pilot’s Watch 43, the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph, and most versions of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph with a case diameter of 44.5 mm, including the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun.

Mark Ong is a big name on the sneaker and streetwear scene, and is known for his military-inspired designs and intricate collaborative work on iconic sneakers such as the Nike Air Force 1, Air Huarache and many more. In 2002, he sold his first customised pair of sneakers online and launched his customisation label “SBTG” (short for Sabotage) the following year.

The strap is an essential part of the watch and supports the attitude of the entire timepiece. Marks’ artistic expression and his way of combining military and streetwear elements perfectly fit our idea of a contemporary interpretation of our iconic Pilot’s Watches.

Christian Knoop, Chief Design Officer of IWC

In addition to the strap, the complete set also includes a pin buckle, fitting spring bars to assist with mounting the strap on watches that are not equipped with the EasX-CHANGE® system, and a customised box in the signature SBTG camouflage design.
