Hermès is hosting an exhibition that will allow all crafters and makers a chance to peek behind-the-scenes.
Calling all clever, crafty, creative spirits: imagine spending a day observing the ingenious artisans of Hermès up close in a workshop setting, and learn the age-old techniques that are specialities of the French luxury house, such as saddle-stitching a Kelly bag, colour printing a silk scarf, or setting a Chaîne d’ancre bracelet with diamonds…
Well, pinch yourself, you’re not dreaming! From 1 to 9 October, Hermès is inviting the public to meet their artisans from the different métiers of the House, who will be bringing their tools, materials and expertise.
“Hermès in the Making” is an exhibition in an open-plan workshop setting, inviting guests to observe how iconic Hermès pieces are crafted; and engage in interactive games and workshops, as well as two conferences giving greater insight into the topics of craftsmanship and the preservation of know-how.
The entire event is based around the four themes that are central to the Maison’s guiding philosophy: preservation and transmission of know-how, respect for and quality of materials, commitment to the long-term, and regional anchoring.
Set against the spectacular backdrop of Marina Bay and the iconic city skyline, “Hermès in the Making” will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza. Public will be able to register for the exhibition via the link from 14th September: https://www.hermes.com/sg/en/story/286620-hermes-in-the-making/
Following the “Hermès in the Making” exhibition in Singapore, the travelling event will next be held in Kyoto (Japan) in November 2022.
