Valentino Tiger 1967 Ushers in the Year of the Tiger

by Pressroom

The Maison’s tiger motif returns in a special capsule just in time for the Lunar New Year.

Valentino is off to a roaring start with a series of apparel and accessories dressed in the stripes of the tiger. An icon of the Maison, the stately feline was first shown in the opening look of the Haute Couture Fall/ Winter 1967-68 Collection. It made a lasting impression when it appeared on the cover of Vogue USA in October 1967. Shot by Franco Rubartelli, the cover photo showed Veruschka in the tiger coat and immortalised the striking pattern.

The motif makes a return this Lunar New Year to welcome the Year of the Tiger. The contemporary interpretation adorns apparel from dresses to shirts, shorts, hoodies and outerwear along with accessories like bucket hats. Elevate your everyday casual wear with a head-to-toe look in the iconic print, or add a statement piece as an accent to your wardrobe staples.

For bag lovers, the popular Valentino Garavani Roman Stud bags in natural and neon palettes are also dressed in this festive print, that adds a wildly fresh layer of character to the collection.

The new Valentino Garavani Locò bag is another standout. The compact double handle bag sports a ‘90s-inspired silhouette with a VLogo Signature clip closure on its flap. Available in classic black or bright pink, the bag is a versatile one when it comes to styling – carry it by the shorter top handle or by its longer chain. A perfect embodiment of the resignification and evolution of the Maison’s codes, the retro and playful design unites heritage and modernity with ease.
