Seasons change and while some colours remain the same, they transit with the trends as seen in the Pre Fall 2019 collections.
Golden Hour
The late Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by the history and beauty of ancient Egypt in Chanel’s Metiers d’Art show. From golden hats to golden boots and even golden stockings, the Kaiser never disappoints in the glam department, and made gold accessories a major talking point.
Lady in Red
There was nothing racy about red this season. Instead, designers took the elegant route rendering billowing kaftan dresses at Oscar de la Renta, beautiful red carpet-worthy gowns at Valentino and an eclectic mink fur bomber at Fendi.
Orange Crush
Neon brights have had a strong presence for the past few seasons, but while the trend is still lingering, the 80s and 90s references have since died down, giving way to a more sophisticated transition of the colour.
The Power of Pink
Consider a pop of pink next time you step into a boardroom meeting. There were plenty of variations championing tailored silhouettes this season and also a fierce pair of satin pink pumps courtesy of Victoria Beckham, steering pink away from the usual frills and fluff.
And it was all Yellow
It was dubbed the colour of the spring/summer season and it looks like designers aren’t quite ready to give this sunny shade a rest. Instead they showed how to work yellow to your advantage when the temperatures dip, with an array of cute outerwear.
Pretty in Purple
From lovely lavender in spring, to majestic purple in the upcoming fall season, forget the predictable LBD and opt for something in a lilac shade instead. Look to American designer Cristian Siriano’s pre-fall collection for the prettiest choices – some in tulle while others rendered in ruffles.
