Bulgari Man Leather Goods Collection: A Move towards Sustainable Luxury

by Pressroom

Bulgari debuts a stylish, eco-conscious collection of timeless bags for the modern man.

In a step towards building a more sustainable future in the world of luxury goods, Bulgari launches the new Bulgari Man Leather Goods Collection centred on a life cycle design approach, and modelled by iconic J-pop idol Tomohisa Yamashita, one of the brand’s ambassadors.

I usually prefer simple monochrome in my everyday outfits, and I thought the new vivid colours that feels very Italian would fit right into my monotone style and go well with everything. I also identified with the sustainability concept of the product’s development. I have heard the saying ‘good shoes take you to good places,’ but I think the same can be said for good bags. Sometimes I imagine what city I might travel to next with nothing but a single bag in hand. In your journey through life, I wish that Bulgari bags will take you to the places where your dreams come true.

As the face of the collection, Yamashita demonstrates how each bag fits easily into the lifestyle of the contemporary man while elevating the style factor. The 13 designs encompass a variety of shapes for different needs including classic shapes like the horizontal tote bag, the briefcase and the messenger bag, along with the contemporary camera bag, belt bag and backpack. Whether it’s for travel or work, for leisure or business, the iconic styles and on-trend silhouettes in fresh colours, new materials and a more sustainable overall approach aim to make a statement.

Beyond style and quality craftsmanship, Bulgari also demonstrates how to minimise environmental impact in this eco-conscious collection. Each creation plays on the bi-material combination between grainy and smooth metal free calf leather coming from Leather Working Group certified tanneries to animate the distinct Bulgari logo in Roman capital letters. Leather Working Group certified tanneries use production methods centred on factors affecting environmental performance, such as energy and water usage, waste disposal and recycling, and management of restricted substances.

Inside and out, Bulgari shows its innovation-driven pursuit to reduce environmental impact. The outer material in black, Ivy Onyx and Olympian Sapphire is matched with an internal lining in Olympian Sapphire ECONYL® regenerated nylon, while all sewing threads and zipper tapes are made from 100% recycled polyester. Even the straps, all embroidered with the distinctive Bulgari logo, are realised in 100% recycled polyester.

To follow through on Bulgari’s overall commitment to reduce the environmental impact by minimizing the consumption of plastic, the bags are shipped in 100% bamboo fibre protective packaging and a cardboard box derived from responsibly managed forests, and come with a 100% organic cotton bag.
