With its classic good looks, it’s a keeper.
When it comes to bags, Saint Laurent recognises what works, executes it with style, and adds a dash of unparalleled cool. The latest in its line of coveted shoulder bags is the Solferino, a satchel with all the makings of a timeless classic.
The satchel is named after the Rue de Solferino located on Paris’ left bank or rive gauche. The left bank – often seen as the French capital’s centre of chic, bohemian culture and vibrant arts scene – also houses the studio of Saint Laurent on 24 rue de l’Université.
Encapsulating this laidback coolness, the Solferino takes a slightly retro shape outlined by padded piping applied with the traditional “maroquinerie” technique. Constructed with a triple gusset, it maintains its structure even at maximum capacity. The boxy satchel is equipped with a purposefully shortened leather strap for effortless wear on the shoulder, and easy access to its contents.
The thoughtful construction does not end there. The emblematic Saint Laurent monogram hardware exists not just as part of the design but is in fact, a secret mechanical lock activated by the horizontal stroke of the letter “L” on the Cassandre logo.
Elevate your cool with the Saint Laurent Solferino, available in 2 sizes – the small (19 x 13 x 5cm) and medium (23 x 16 x 6cm), in-store and online.
