The classic Peekaboo bag is back in a rainbow of colours and two new sizes – Petite and Micro.
The allure of the Fendi Peekaboo cannot be concisely summed up. There is the architectural perfection of its clean, geometric lines that exude a modern vibe. Yet, at the same time, the design captures just enough of a vintage classic vibe that doesn’t tip the balance. Not forgetting the iconic feature of the bag that makes it one of its kind – the signature turn lock opening that makes the bag gape open just enough to pique one’s interest. That, in itself, is a perfect demonstration of Fendi’s remarkable leather craftsmanship. It’s no wonder that the Peekaboo has maintained its cult status since its debut in 2008.
Staying relevant throughout the times, this ingenious design is now available in two smaller (and extremely adorable) sizes – the Petite and the Micro. The new additions, created in distinctive, smaller proportions, maintain all the signature details of the Fendi Peekaboo. Crafted from padded nappa leather, the Peekaboo ISeeU Petite comes in 12 vibrant colours for every shade of personality, while the tinier Peekaboo ISeeU Micro can be found in 10 bright shades to suit every outfit and occasion.
Don’t be deceived by the Petite’s compact size; daily essentials fit comfortably in it. Designed to be worn crossbody, the vivid tones of the bag will brighten up any outfit. Exclusive variations in exotic leathers such as natural python, croco and lizard, are also available. The Micro, an even smaller version that can also double up as a bag charm, show its versatility. The metal handle for it to be used as a bag charm, can be detached and replaced with an adjustable shoulder strap so that it can be worn on its own. A card holder can also be found within. The amount of meticulous detail to be had in such micro proportions is achieved by Fendi’s exceptional leather artistry and savoir faire.
In celebration of the iconic Peekaboo bag, renowned director and long-time friend of the house – Luca Guadagnino, created a short film in collaboration with Fendi, to encapsulate the essence of the boundless imagination and formidable femininity of the brand. The film depicts the model Adwoa Aboah as a stylish incarnation of a superwoman flying above the rooftops in Rome before arriving on the steps of Fendi’s Palazzo della Civilta Italiana. The narrative channels the vision of an empowered woman who makes her own choices, like the women who wear the brand.
With the DNA of Fendi being Rome, we of course talked about Rome – but instead of being in Rome, being above Rome. We had this idea of levity – of the Peekaboo bag, at the centre of the movie, being the magical driver behind Adwoa flying over the ancient city.
Luca Guadagnino, Film Director
The star of the film, Adwoa Aboah, embodies the character both onscreen and in real life. The model, actress and advocate exemplifies the Fendi woman – moving with a liberated ease as she determines her own destiny. In the words of Kim Jones, Fendi’s artistic director of women’s collections, “The Fendi women is empowered: she is someone of her own making.”
