Dior’s new bags are a perfect blend of heritage, savoir faire and what we love about the sport-luxe trend.
Maria Grazia Chiuri takes the sport-luxe trend to the next level with the latest Dior Vibe bags that debuted at the Dior 2022 Cruise show in Athens. Imagined in two formats – a bowling bag and a hobo, the new line incorporates Dior’s heritage into sportswear seamlessly. Present in the new line are some of the House’s characteristic symbols; the “Christian Dior” signature, for one, stands out in contrasting colours while Monsieur Dior’s favourite lucky star makes its mark on the new designs.
The classic two-handle bowling bag hits the refresh button in this modern iteration. Each piece of the bag is cut out from wooden patterns, then assembled and sewn together with the greatest attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. The curves in its body are created by inserting a layer of foam to give it structure, while the practical rubber base inspired by sneaker soles, is embossed with stars – the designer’s lucky charm. Inside the bag, the lining is made using the reverse applique quilting technique and rubber zips.
Elegant enough for the office while offering a roomy interior that allows you to skip carrying an extra bag, the Dior Vibe bowling bag is functional yet stylish. An external zip pocket provides additional functionality while seasonal motifs like the Dior Etoile and Dior Athlet prints, as well as the Dior Oblique in tone-on-tone perforated leather are charming versions that elevate the sporty silhouette.
The other standout bag in the line is the hobo style which features Dior’s iconic cannage in black or white leather. The two straps of different length add versatility of wear while a gold-finish metal buckle punctuated with the initials “CD” invoke sporty vibes. Finally, the “Christian Dior” signature at the bottom completes the bag and makes it truly Dior.
Exquisitely crafted in a modern expression, the Vibe line has been out and about with modern, stylish headliners Chiara Ferragni, Madelaine Petsch, Louane and Yuko Araki, to name a few. All varying in style direction, they present the versatility of the bold new pieces.
