Named after Monsieur Christian Dior’s sister Catherine, known affectionately as Caro to her nearest and dearest, the details of the Dior Caro bag are charming and timeless, with the House codes perfectly punctuated in its clean silhouette.
The Caro made its debut at the 2021 Cruise show, stealing the limelight with the Maison’s emblematic cannage perfected in 18,000 stitches on supple leather. Its softness is balanced out by the design’s centrepiece – an oversized clasp bearing the “CD” initials. The “CD” signature is extended to the chain links on its interchangeable shoulder strap.
The rectangular silhouette and clean lines of the Caro lend itself to seasonal interpretations in terms of colour and material. Its classic good looks have shown up strongly in timeless shades of monochromes and neutrals, along with soft tones like sky blue and compass rose in the Cruise collection. Reinvented for Spring-Summer 2021, the range of colours are even more astounding – from intense raspberry pink and ocean blue to nude and cognac, and even sporting shades of indigo, burgundy and pink with subtle gradient effects. Equally appealing are the exclusive models in a reinterpreted denim canvas, featuring embroidery channeling the texture of straw, or adorned with the hypnotic Tie & Dior motif.
This versatile fashion statement has graced friends of the House from Korean singer Jisoo to actresses Angelababy, Bae Suzy, Lucy Ramos, Maria Bakalova, Yuko Araki and Cynthia Samuel.
The Caro bag’s popularity has inspired a new line of detachable accessories that allow for a touch of personalised style. Embellished with a delicate ring, these objects of desire punctuated with cannage details and adorned with the initials “CD”, combine easily with embroidered shoulder straps – in classic or adjustable versions. Choose from evergreen brown or black or summery raspberry pink and ocean blue. There are also wallets in rectangular, round and half-moon versions, that come with a micro-strap. You can also choose from a multi-functional pouch featuring a card holder and phone case, or a double pouch fitted with two large compartments, a zippered pocket and two card slots. Unveiled for the first time in four sizes, beauty kits are designed to accommodate all the essentials.
