Zenith’s new boutique-exclusive DEFY Skyline Chronograph features a cool modern palette and bold architectural lines
Zenith’s first boutique-exclusive edition of its DEFY Skyline Chronograph is a striking timepiece combining shades of slate grey and gold. Launched at the Watches & Wonders 2024 event, this edition offers a sophisticated take on the brand’s El Primero chronograph, known for its high-frequency precision and 1/10th of a second function.
The 42mm steel-cased watch retains the bold, angular design language of the DEFY collection, which draws inspiration from the original octagonal DEFY models. With sharp lines and a multi-faceted bezel, the timepiece embodies modern architectural aesthetics while maintaining a robust build. Water-resistant up to 100 metres, the watch features chronograph pushers integrated seamlessly into the case, with the brand’s star emblem displayed on the screw-down crown.
Its standout feature is the slate grey dial, contrasted with gold-toned, engraved four-pointed stars, creating depth and warmth. The dial includes three oversized counters for tracking seconds, minutes, and constant running seconds, alongside a discreet date window at 4:30. These elements are powered by Zenith’s celebrated El Primero 3600 calibre operating at 5Hz, with the central hand completing a revolution every 10 seconds. This advanced movement can be admired through the transparent case back, revealing a star-shaped oscillating weight.
Zenith’s innovation extends to the watch’s strap system, which features an integrated quick-change mechanism for swapping between the steel bracelet and a black rubber strap without the need for tools.
Exclusively available in Zenith boutiques, both physical and online, this edition marks a new chapter for the Swiss watchmaker, as it was unveiled at the opening of its boutique in Kuala Lumpur’s TRX complex.
