Van Cleef & Arpels: Treasures, Uncovered

by Pressroom

Go on a gem-laden adventure with Van Cleef & Arpels’ dazzling Treasure Island collection

Van Cleef & Arpels’ latest High Jewellery collection draws inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 classic Treasure Island. Blending literary imagination with meticulous craftsmanship, the collection reimagines the spirit of maritime adventure and exotic discovery in a dazzling array of creations.

Presented as a three-part journey, the collection captures the essence of Stevenson’s tale while celebrating the Maison’s enduring love for nature and storytelling.

Chapter 1: Adventure at Sea

The first chapter, “Adventure at Sea,” evokes nautical motifs, with white gold and diamond-studded clips such as Hispaniola capturing the energy of billowing sails. The Écume Mystérieuse necklace channels the ocean’s dynamic forces, while the Poissons Mystérieux clip showcases a ballet of fish in sapphires and diamonds. The art of sailor’s knots are honoured in the Cordage infini and En haute mer transformable necklaces.

Chapter 2: Exploring the Island

The second chapter, “Exploring the Island,” transports wearers to a tropical paradise teeming with vibrant flora and fauna. Highlights include the Palmeraie Merveilleuse necklace, featuring a 47.93-carat emerald nestled in palm-shaped gold settings, and the Coquillage Mystérieux clip, which unveils a hidden fairy figure cradling a pearl and emerald.

Chapter 3: The Treasure Hunt

The collection culminates with the final chapter “The Treasure Hunt,” an homage to the allure of undiscovered riches. Standout pieces include the Carte au Trésor clip, a golden map adorned with engraved landmarks, rings like the Coffre Précieux, which frames a 14.32-carat sapphire in a setting inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting “The Sea” at Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and the Dieu du vent and Dieu du ciel clips dressed in precious stones and majestic headdresses in hammered gold and diamonds.

Celebrating over a century of expertise, Van Cleef & Arpels employs its iconic Mystery Set technique, where stones are invisibly mounted for a seamless appearance. The collection’s vibrancy reflects the Maison’s fascination with distant cultures and natural wonders, while paying tribute to literature’s power to inspire artistic innovation.
