Pomellato: Romancing the Stone

by Pressroom

Pomellato’s Art of Gems seeks to tell the story of each gemstone, and express the beauty of “imperfection”

Italian jewellery house Pomellato has unveiled its latest gemological venture, “The Art of Gems,” a celebration of coloured gemstones that defies conventional standards. Guided by Gem Master Stefano Cortecci, the brand embraces imperfections, seeing inclusions and subtle colour variations as markers of a stone’s history and character, rather than flaws. “True beauty often lies in what others might consider imperfect,” Cortecci said, emphasising Pomellato’s focus on emotional resonance over market value.

Renowned for their groundbreaking cutting techniques, Pomellato’s artisans have reimagined traditional approaches to reveal the inner beauty of each gem. The Maison’s patented 57-facet Nudo cut and elevated cabochon techniques allow for unique plays of light and shadow, transforming rough stones into tactile treasures.

Tanzanite’s shifting blue-violet hues are magnified through irregular Baroque cuts, while the electric azure tones of indicolite tourmaline are intensified by custom emerald cuts. Even diamonds are approached unconventionally, with irregular pavé settings that prioritise texture and light interplay over conventional symmetry.

Collections such as Nudo and Sabbia embody Pomellato’s ethos, with bold irregular cuts and organic settings that bring coloured gems to life. Their High Jewellery pieces pair unexpected stones like tanzanites and mandarin garnets, creating striking chromatic combinations that challenge gemological traditions. From the neon vibrancy of Paraiba tourmalines to the earthy depths of prasiolite, the brand’s creations highlight a distinctive personality in every gem.

Beyond technical mastery, Pomellato places emotional connection at the heart of its designs. Each gem is seen as part of an “emotional gem library,” with hues that evoke powerful memories and emotions – from the Mediterranean sparkle of aquamarine to the tender blush of morganite.

As demand for rare gemstones grows, Pomellato’s avant-garde philosophy continues to elevate jewellery into an art form. By celebrating the unique narratives of each stone, the Milanese jeweller invites wearers to embrace pieces that reflect their own individuality and spirit. For Pomellato, beauty truly lies in the unexpected.
