A limited edition capsule collection of precious watches built on the unique DNA of Cartier designs.
The Maillon de Cartier is a watch that makes you take a second look. Jewellery or timepiece? It’s both. A keeper.
Positioned as the “centrepiece” of a stylish ensemble, the Maillon de Cartier watch makes a strong statement with its offset chain-link bracelet, hexagonal dial and faceted case – crafted in gleaming, mirror-polished gold.
The Maillon de Cartier is bold yet elegant, feminine yet handsome, ample yet graceful. “We wanted to deconstruct the bracelet and transcend its design through a volume approach,” said Marie-Laure Cérède, Director of Design for Watchmaking at Cartier. “Emotion is in the movement and tension.”
Indeed, the Maillon de Cartier is a showpiece of not only the Maison’s love of geometry, but also its dedication to work movement and kinetics into its designs. Wrapped around the wrist in torsion, the links (“maillon”) are cleverly entwined and arranged on the bias, perfectly aligned with the bevelled brancards, hexagonal dial, and slanted numerals.
Apart from classic 18k yellow gold, the Maillon de Cartier watch also comes in glamorous bejewelled options of 18k pink gold and 18k white gold set with brilliant-cut diamonds (crown and bevel; case and bracelet; case, dial and bracelet). And for collectors, a limited and numbered edition will be launched: 50 pieces of a luxe 18k yellow gold rendition with case and bracelet set with 580 brilliant-cut diamonds (9.33 cts), complete with a contrasting black lacquer dial.
Available from May 2020.
