IWC Schaffhausen, a Swiss luxury watchmaker, has unveiled two extraordinary Big Pilot’s Watch editions paying homage to the iconic G-Class from Mercedes-Benz. These timepieces combine maximum robustness, utilitarian heritage, and timeless design elements, mirroring the enduring success of both the G-Class and IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch.
The first edition, the Big Pilot’s Watch AMG G 63, showcases an 18-carat Armor Gold® case and crown, capturing the bold and luxurious essence of the recently launched Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition.” Armor Gold® is a cutting-edge alloy that elevates gold’s hardness, making it exceptionally resilient.
The second edition marks a groundbreaking moment for IWC as it features a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) case developed in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). This material offers unparalleled durability and resilience, making it ideal for high-performance applications.
Both watches pay tribute to the G-Class with design elements reminiscent of its headlights and air intakes. They incorporate IWC’s in-house 52010 calibre movement, known for precision and robustness, with a seven-day power reserve.
