The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team is dressed in a vibrant pink for the second Miami Grand Prix™.
It’s hard to miss the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team watch, especially with its latest, exclusive Miami Pink rubber strap. The pink strap perfectly matches the team’s appearance at the Miami International Autodrome, where eye-catching pink details will be featured on the gloves and shoes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Team members will also be wearing the striking edition at the Miami Grand Prix™ where the motorsport elite congregates.
Making its debut at the first Miami Grand Prix™ a year ago, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team is crafted from remarkably rigid grade 5 titanium. This corrosion-resistant and skin-friendly material was pioneered in the watch industry by IWC in the 1980s, when they introduced the first wristwatch with a titanium case and bracelet. 45 percent lighter than steel and with the highest strength-to-density ratio of any metal, titanium is widely used in automotive engineering to manufacture components subject to extreme stains, such as engine valves.
The remarkable titanium build houses a chronograph powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre movement in a column-wheel design. The impressive heart of the movement can be viewed through the sapphire glass back. Comprising 242 parts, this robust chronograph movement features a bi-directional pawl winding system that builds up a power reserve of 46 hours in the mainspring.
The watch features a black dial with printing and luminescence in the team’s signature PETRONAS green, perfectly complementing the vivid pink strap. The integrated EasX-CHANGE® system makes changing strap a swift and simple affair without the need of any additional tools. You can find the new reference on the Miami Pink rubber strap (Ref. IW388114) in a bundle with the green strap. This version can only be purchased online on IWC.com and in the Miami boutique for a limited time. Meanwhile, the existing version of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (Ref. IW388108) on a green rubber strap comes in a bundle with a black calfskin strap and will continue to be available online. Both timepieces are eligible for registration under the My IWC care program and can benefit from a 6-year extension to the standard 2-year International Limited Warranty.
This year marks a decade of partnership between the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, of which IWC has been the official engineering partner of. As the first official team watch IWC has produced for its partner, the chronograph pays tribute to the passion and determination of the team’s designers, aerodynamicists, race engineers, strategists and mechanics.
