Following an all-black success, Hublot collaborates with the Japanese artist to star his signature rainbow smiling flower in a dazzling horological sequel.
If you missed out on Hublot and Takashi Murakami’s monochromatic collaboration which sold out within a day, you might want to keep your eyes peeled for their next partnership. This time, expect the horological creation in rainbow colours, achieved by setting 487 stones in rainbow colours – rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, yellow and orange sapphires.
The Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow watch features a 3D rendition of the iconic smiling flower that literally emerges from the watch dial, with 12 colourful petals that rotate around the face. This is done with an ingenious ball-bearing system specially developed by Hublot’s engineers, allowing the petals to start turning under the watch crystal and bring Takashi Murakami’s smiling flower to life.
This partnership with Hublot has enabled me to express my creativity in what is a totally new medium for me. The mastery of the watchmaker’s technicians has opened up new fields of possibilities for my inspiration. The result is this new watch in the colours of the rainbow.

Hublot’s artistry completes the watch. The self-winding movement runs on the HUB1214 Unico calibre with a power reserve of 72 hours, though without the stopwatch function. Housed in a transparent 45mm-diameter case cut from sapphire crystal, both works of art – that of Murakami’s and the house of Hublot – can be admired and contemplated. This exceptional setting reuses the characteristic features of the Classic Fusion model, and is a technological feat pioneered by Hublot.
Our continuing collaboration with Takashi Murakami is taking us to new lands of expression as yet unexplored by the watchmaking world. In this work, artistic creation and our company’s know-how intertwine to give birth to a work of art you can wear on your wrist!
