Cartier Nature Sauvage: Bejewelled Encounters, Continued

by Pressroom

The third chapter of Cartier’s Nature Sauvage High Jewellery collection unfolds with bold new bejewelled expressions of animals exploring different environments

Fauna portrayed in the Cartier universe has always been fascinating. Compelling narratives that endlessly evoke the imagination revolve around the Maison’s bejewelled creations. In this vein, the third chapter of Cartier Nature Sauvage unfolds into trompe-l’œil scenes that captivate – each precious creation capturing the featured animal in motion, against natural landscapes or conjured universes.

The Nature Sauvage collection tells this story well, manifesting the life and energy of these creatures of nature through the details in each unique piece.

A new perspective of the Cartier Fauna, to surprise, amaze and bring modernity by way of unexpected encounters. Expressive jewellery which showcases the attitudes and personality of an animal, its vitality. Like an actor, it plays with graphics, with volume and optical illusions, blending into an imaginary landscape. This is the spirit of Nature Sauvage.

Jacqueline Karachi, Director of High Jewellery Creation

We explore five new high jewellery creations in this enchanting new chapter, a record of these exquisite “encounters” that feature different jewels in novel combinations.

Panthère Versatiles

Perhaps the most synonymous with Cartier is the panther, making its mark in the Cartier universe since 1914, taking on countless forms in an amazing metamorphosis.

The Panthères Versatiles captures the dynamic energy of this powerful feline as it encircles the neck; its body is interpreted into a speckled vine-like cord of onyx and diamonds, its piercing emerald eyes on the stylised head guarding fiercely, a 10.10-carat Zambian emerald. This bold composition is made possible with the Maison’s exceptional savoir-faire of modularity.

Like the sleek moves of a panther, the necklace transforms into an original piece of shoulder jewellery when worn with a second strand finished with another panther head. This other strand can also be worn as a necklace on its own or wrapped around the wrist as a bracelet.

Panthère Canopée

The emblematic panther makes yet another grand entrance on the Panthère Canopée. In this particular interpretation on the necklace, the panther is in its element, guarding a stately 26.53-carat Ceylon sapphire in an imaginary jungle. Diamonds set the stage, adding strength to the piece, yet not overpowering the sapphire centrepiece.

The Panthère Canopée commands a powerful presence. The geometric accents of the foliage adds an architectural dimension, perfectly contrasted with the realistic depiction of the feline silhouette.

Tigre

Yet another feline makes an appearance. The Tiger series conveys vitality and power through the realistic yet stylised interpretation of this majestic animal.

The necklace especially, captures the prowess of the tiger completely. Its coat comprises yellow, orange, brown and white diamonds, while the spots are cut from onyx, one by one, in various orientations and planes in order to portray the tiger as close to reality as possible.

The tiger stretches to form the structure of the collar around the neck. The coat is made up of yellow, orange, brown and white diamonds. The spots are created from onyx cut one by one in a range of orientations and planes. The composition is realistic, as close to reality as possible. The most mesmerising element here is its piercing emerald eyes that light up its sculptural form as it stretches itself around the neck, forming the structure of the collar. An articulated paw seals the deal.

Echina

Then there is the unexpected bejewelled encounter that is simply hard to forget. Enigmatic and simply unforgettable, the Echina turns its focus on to coral-studded emerald ribbed beads – a tribute to the Maison’s stylistic history back in the 1920s when these beads first made their way into the jewellery creations.

On the necklace, the beads alternate with sapphires on openwork diamond-pave lacework – a design that embraces the wearer. Taking centrestage here is the interpretation of a sea urchin shell. The rich tones of the jewels takes us right into the depth of the sea, echoing the mysterious beauty of the ocean’s fluid aquatic tones.

A perspective gained through the lens of Cartier, the Echina necklace builds a connection between nature and geometry, through the deft hands of the Maison’s artisans.
