Breguet Tradition 7035: Bejewelled Brilliance

by Pressroom

The latest addition to the Tradition family is a star-studded dazzler.

Breguet’s Tradition line of watches is renowned for the impressive openwork display of its heart and soul. The line is the first, in fact, to feature an entire movement on the dial. They are modern-day interpretations of founder Abraham-Louis Breguet’s subscription watches, particularly noted for the architecture of their fully symmetrical calibre.

Last year, the summer release made two noteworthy additions to the iconic Tradition family of watches. This year, Breguet doesn’t disappoint either. Designed for the modern woman to have the best of both worlds, the limited-edition Tradition 7035 is a showstopper that showcases the best of gem-setting and watchmaking traditions.

If you’re familiar with the Tradition family, you’ll recognise all its hallmarks on the 7035, including the offset dial housed at 12 o’clock, and topped off with a natural white mother-of-pearl hours chapter. This gives a clear view of the fully exposed movement set around the central barrel, indicated by its rosette motif and the harmoniously placed traditional bridges, wheels, pare-chute, and balance wheel.

Housed in a 37mm, 18k rose gold case with a delicately fluted caseband and a bezel set with 68 brilliant-cut diamonds, is the mechanical self-winding movement is Cal. 505J, numbered and signed Breguet. Running on a 50-hour power reserve, it features a lever escapement with silicon horns and a Breguet balance spring of the same material. Turn the watch around and under the sapphire caseback, you can observe that a rotor in gold continues with the barrel motif.

Besides admiring the movement, get ready to be dazzled by the 18k gold plate and bridge paved with 190 brilliant-cut diamonds of varied sizes, skilfully lined using the arduous snow-setting technique to keep the visible material to a minimum. For the retrograde seconds indicator, the Maison opted for a gradient of rubies and pink sapphires, which recall both the rubies on the movement and the one housed upon the crown. A striking red leather strap with a 18k rose gold pin buckle set featuring 25 brilliant-cut diamonds completes the timepiece.

Limited to 88 pieces, this 37mm masterpiece combines watchmaking gravitas with the finesse of fine jewellery, giving you the best of both worlds without compromising either.
