Breguet unveils a new rose gold Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345
In a striking tribute to its founder, Breguet has introduced the Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345, a masterpiece of haute horlogerie that showcases intricate craftsmanship and technical sophistication.
Honouring the invention of the tourbillon by Abraham-Louis Breguet on 26 June 1801, this remarkable new timepiece celebrates the brand’s long-term dedication to horological excellence.
This latest addition to Breguet’s Haute Horlogerie collection is powered by the complex 588N2 movement, comprising 740 components within a rose gold case, measuring 46mm in diameter and 16.8mm thick.
At its heart, the watch features two independent tourbillons, each with its own gear train and barrel, connected by a central differential. The entire mechanism rotates every 12 hours, doubling as an hour hand in Breguet’s signature style.
The sapphire dial reveals the intricate movement beneath, with Roman numerals and a minute track engraved and coated with blue varnish. The vertical flank of the case is engraved with Roman numeral hour markers filled with black varnish, creating a shadow effect. The timepiece is completed with a midnight blue rubber strap embossed with Breguet’s name.
The artistry of the Classique Double Tourbillon extends beyond its mechanics. The watch features a new radiant flinqué guilloché pattern, a nod to Breguet’s rich tradition in decorative arts. The guilloché work, executed on both the rose gold rotating mainplate and the rhodium-plated gold bridge, showcases the Manufacture’s mastery in this domain, with techniques honed on historical lathes restored by in-house specialists.
Further emphasising its dedication to artisanal skills, Breguet has dedicated over 100 hours to the hand engraving on the movement’s back, depicting an aerial view of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s historic workshop. The meticulous chamfering and polishing of each component underscore Breguet’s commitment to perfection, with interior and exterior angles crafted by hand for a finish that machines cannot replicate.
CEO Lionel a Marca underscores Breguet’s role as a guardian of horological arts, focusing on the importance of preserving and training artisans in techniques that have all but disappeared.
The Classique Double Tourbillon 5345 stands as a testament to Breguet’s unwavering dedication to horological art and innovation, a true masterpiece celebrating its founder’s visionary spirit.
