A. Lange & Söhne: The Mechanical Masters

by Pressroom

A new showcase by the brand at ION Orchard puts its grand feats of micro-engineering on centrestage.

German luxury watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne has been creating horological masterpieces that are often instantly recognised for its distinctly unique style in movement construction.

With 69 manufacture calibres and multiple technical patents developed since 1990, A. Lange & Söhne is known for its brand icons, such as the Lange 1, the first regularly produced wristwatch with an outsize date; the Zeitwerk, with its precisely jumping numerals; and its most complicated watch to date, the Grand Complication.

The manufacturer crafts only a few thousand wristwatches, mainly in gold and platinum, a year – making their pieces highly covetable among aficionados and collectors the world over.

Now you can discover the full measure of Lange’s unique horological philosophy and watchmaking expertise at The Mechanical Masters showcase in ION Orchard, Singapore.

This is an intimate and immersive journey into the heart of the brand, with game-changing horological innovations and artistry taking centrestage. Among the technical complications on show are a sophisticated constant force mechanism, an integrated zero-reset mechanism, and a one-of-a-kind, three-disc jumping numerals mechanism that displays time in a digital format.

On the other end of the spectrum is a stunning showcase of the brand’s mastery of age-old German decorative arts, from intricate engraving work on small movement components, to its exclusive in-house gold alloy ‘Honey Gold’.

Lange has also specially flown in Master Watchmaker, Robert Hoffmann and Master Engraver, Robert Arnold, from the brand’s headquarters in Glashütte to share insights about Lange, as well as conduct the ‘live’ demonstrations.

The showcase will be held at Level One at the ION Orchard atrium from 27 to 30 October 2022, 10am to 9pm. Registration via online booking at https://www.alange-soehne.com/sg-en/sg-event is required.
