Montblanc unveils a luxurious homage to Pierre-Auguste Renoir with a collection of five new opulent pens
Montblanc has unveiled its latest addition to the Masters of Art collection, paying tribute to the Impressionist master Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Following its previous homages to Vincent van Gogh and Gustav Klimt, the luxury brand now celebrates the French painter, whose radical approach to light and movement helped define 19th-century art.
The collection, designed in accordance with the golden ratio, features five limited-edition writing instruments, each inspired by key moments in Renoir’s career.

The Limited Edition 4810 (above) takes its cues from the artist’s love of nature, with an olive wood barrel and cap reflecting the olive groves at his estate, Les Collettes. Hand-applied paint strokes mirror the vivid colours of his work, while a blue resin emblem references Renoir’s famous declaration about Impressionism’s accidental origins: “One morning, one of us, lacking black, used blue: Impressionism was born.”

The Limited Edition 888 (above right) is a nod to Renoir’s early years as a porcelain painter, incorporating white lacquer and Louis XVI-style engravings. Meanwhile, the Limited Edition 161 (above left) celebrates his so-called “pearly period,” with mother-of-pearl inlays and sterling silver reliefs echoing the soft hues of works like “Woman with a Hat”.

Perhaps the most striking is the Limited Edition 92 (above left), which draws on Renoir’s “Luncheon of the Boating Party”, featuring engravings that recall the sunlit fabrics and straw hats in the painting. The ultra-exclusive Limited Edition 8 (above right), dedicated to “The Great Bathers”, includes hand-engraved gold overlays and diamonds, capturing Renoir’s later fascination with structure and classical composition.
Accompanied by a special notebook, deep purple ink, and matching cufflinks, the collection is a testament to Montblanc’s craftsmanship and Renoir’s enduring influence.
Available from April 2025, these luxurious tributes offer collectors a tangible connection to one of art’s great visionaries.
