Coming in strong from last year’s wave of the exquisitely revamped Seamaster Diver 300M, Omega is introducing new models to the family.
You don’t have to be an MI6 agent, a navy SEAL or an astronaut to have a perfectly good reason to own a Seamaster. Omega has new versions that don’t only look good but just in case you decide to go for a dip with the whales, you know you can.
When it comes to famous fans, Omega certainly has a seriously lit following that boasts from many walks of life. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, mariner Jacques Costeau, heartthrobs like Elvis Presley, Ringo Starr and George Clooney all sported one in their work. Former Soviet prez Mikhail Gorbechev was often seen with his gold Constellation Manhattan. John F Kennedy wore an Omega at his inauguration as America’s 35th president in 1960 and the Pope John Paul II preferred his Omega De Ville ‘Classic’.
Aside from the added versions in black ceramic and titanium, the Chronograph with its broody black ceramic bezel and pushers with Sedna™ gold case and subdials, or blue ceramic and stainless steel case, the Seamaster Diver 300M to watch out for is in snazzy Blue Ceramic and Sedna™ Gold and comes with all the iconic features of the collection including the waved dial and helium escape valve. What’s new is the 42mm case crafted from this special gold with a polished blue ceramic bezel with the Ceragold™ diving scale and a blue rubber strap with a buckle in the same Sedna™. In the case sits the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8802 with a luxurious flourish to the rotor and balance bridge in – yes you’ve guessed it right – Sedna™ gold.
If you google Sedna Gold, you will find that it’s a proprietary blend of gold, copper and palladium by the watchmaker. But more importantly, what it means is that 18K rosy flush promises to be at least 75% pure gold.
If blue is not your colour, there is also the Seamaster Diver 300M in White Ceramic Dial. The pristine white dial contrasts nicely with its black bezel and 42mm stainless steel case. To give the new ceramic white dial extra pop, OMEGA has included laser-engraved waves, a date window at the 6 o’clock position and the Seamaster name highlighted in red. A black ceramic bezel ring filled with a white enamel diving scale is mounted upon the stainless steel. Stainless steel is also used for the polished-brushed bracelet. There is also Omega’s patented extendable foldover rack-and-pusher with an extra diver extension.
These key entrants aside, the Seamaster Aqua Terra would be the go-to for a dressier piece. The updated model boasts a solid polished link that integrates its 43mm brushed stainless steel case nicely to the watch’s blue rubber strap.
The showstopper for this watch is its map of the earth created with laser-ablation to feature a vividly blue ocean and a tactile relief of the continents whereby realistic earth tones are achieved by the chemical reaction between the laser and the dial’s titanium surface.
And for those who fancy an upgrade of the Seamaster, the new Planet Ocean Chronograph comes with a titanium ceramic dial with rhodium-plated hands and indexes as well as orange accents and ceramic bezel with pushers.
The original Planet Ocean returns with a more classic feel to its 43.5mm stainless steel case with an orange ceramic bezel. In other words, there really is a Seamaster for every occasion and preference.
