All at once, it feels like an intimate peek into the creative process, and the brilliant minds behind the snippets of curious inspiration. The Italian fashion house exited the realm of social media at the turn of the new year and returns with the promise of this quarterly release known as “Issued”.

“Issued by Bottega 01” is a rich, masterful interplay of sound and visuals that evokes your senses with an emphasis on textures enhanced by colour. Best experienced with the sound on, snippets of commentary in the documentary clips convey emotion, while sound effects the likes of balloon sculpturing and metal links jingling, juxtapose live tunes from classical instruments and Missy Elliot’s new track specially created for this Issue. Adding to the sensory experience is seeing the brand’s familiar footwear and bag silhouettes in unexpected materials such as candy and jelly, or even under X-ray vision.

The culmination of 28 creative minds from Biba’s Barbara Hulanicki to the free-running parkour athletes Storror and master of portraiture, Jonathan Frantini, the digital journal’s debut is an invitation to engage, experience and perceive fashion in new, unconventional ways.

Desensitised by the noise of social media and perhaps trapped in the overload of visuals, we forget to experience and appreciate the process of inspiration and creation in the world of fashion.
