what, how, who.
We talked about the Loewe Balloon bag earlier this year, along with as-worn styling shots. We now bring you details from the crafting process of this Loewe star by Creative Director Jonathan Anderson.
The Balloon bag bears a dual leather construction, where a sac of soft nappa calfskin sits inside the round structured robust calf leather base. This allows for a nice smooth finish inside the bag and reducing the need for further lining. It also presents a spectrum of fabrication and colour blocking possibilities. We featured the natural raffia weave/tan leather fabrication here, and a lovely line-up of familiar faces wearing the two-tone variations – hazelnut-and-tan, black-and-tan and topaz-and-black combinations to name a few – further down this post.
All three sizes of the bag – small, medium and large – come with a pair of straps. A shorter handle to wear the bag high on the shoulder or to hold it in hand (as you would a bucket). Add the longer adjustable strap to hear it crossbody, or hung from shoulder to hip. The drawstring pull to close the bag is knotted, and can be personalised with the the brand’s anagram dice, which is available in an assortment of colours, sizes and designs.
