“Play is movement, freedom, imagination, fantasy, seduction, lightness. Where there’s play, there’s hope.” Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès Artistic Director
Annual themes have become tradition in Hermès, since the first, introduced by the late Chairman and Chief Executive Jean-Louis Dumas.
It was 1987, the 150th anniversary of the brand, and what better way to celebrate than to declare it the “Year of Fireworks”.
That same year, the now-iconic Firework-Maker on horseback (holding a pair of silk scarves) was inaugurated on the roof of the brand flagship store at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
This year, Hermès says:
“Let’s play!”
And it is game on for 2018 as the House comes together thematically, across window displays, retail iconography, communication visuals, events, and importantly, product design in all categories.
