Before Gentle Monster arrived on our shores, a trip to Seoul would be incomplete without picking up a pair of the brand’s coveted eyewear. The cult brand rose to fame riding the Hallyu wave, with many Korean celebrities seen sporting their designer frames. When global stars Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid were photographed in the unique avant-garde frames of the brand, it further cemented their fashionable place in the eyewear industry.
Gentle Monster’s approach to physical retail is experiential, with each of its 20 global flagship stores featuring its own distinctive, creative space complete with strategically placed art installations. It is no wonder that the brand has been popular with millennials, not just for the eyewear, but ‘for the gram’.
‘13’, the standout 2019 collection is known for its eccentric and unconventional designs. The dystopian concept was titled after the 13th month, Undecember, caused by the moon shifting out of place and axis, slowly floating away from Earth.
Six signature designs from this chic and futuristic collection are now debuting in smaller sizes for children: Newturtle Red and Green, Peggy, Ribbon, Jackbye, Eastmoon, and Chapssal.
Inspired by self-made youths and kids committed to their dreams, the campaign visuals featuring child style icon, Coco Pink Princess are fantasy-like, reminding us to look at the world with child-like wonder.
