Chanel 19: Essentially Coded

by Pressroom

… and given the Coppola treatment this Summer.

The double-C has become ubiquitous with the house of Chanel. This summer, another double-C will have your eyes peeled.

Through the lens of Sofia and Roman Coppola, Chanel welcomes you to be immersed in the free spirit and energy of muses Margaret Qualley, Taylor Russell and Marine Vacth.

In a short film for the Chanel 19 bag campaign, the Coppolas capture the essence of Qualley’s youthful exuberance, Russell’s vibrant presence and Vacth’s cool nonchalance. Different as they may be, the 19 bag pairs effortlessly with each of them as they groove to George Benson’s ‘80s hit Give Me the Night.

The eras coincide subliminally in a joyful collage, as the faces of the Chanel 19 muses mingle with archival images of Gabrielle Chanel and other significant personalities in the history of the house including Marie-Hélène Arnaud, Catherine Deneuve, Stella Tennant and Kristen Stewart.

Set to be a new icon, the 19 bag magnifies classic elements of Chanel with its oversized diamond quilting and double-C clasp, complemented by the leather-interlaced chain fusing antique gold and ruthenium hardware seamlessly.

You may have seen the Chanel 19 around since its debut in the Fall/Winter collection last year. Like the classic 2.55, the Chanel 19 was named after its birthday. The semi-structured flap bag sports a more relaxed silhouette. Previously dressed in tweed and leather in fall colours for its debut, and then in pastel-hued jersey, wool and even full sequins, the new icon of the house of Chanel is now reinterpreted in denim, graphic silk twill and leather of vibrant shades to get you into the mood for summer.

Free yourself with its roomy construction that allows you to go big and even bigger (it comes in L, XL and Maxi sizes) as you zip around. There is also the option of a belt bag in the 19’s smallest rendition, if you wish to be truly handsfree.

Celebrate the joie de vivre of the Chanel 19, in-store and online.
