Craft, comfort, and continuity.
Warm and soft like an enthralling embrace, yet light enough for comfort and movement. If there are foundations to building a wardrobe, the cashmere scarf is one of them. But there are cashmere scarves, and there are Burberry cashmere scarves.
An iconic piece in the House of Burberry, the cashmere scarf is made meticulously in collaboration with Scottish craftsmen. This partnership with a family-run Scottish mill was formed more than a century ago in 1900, using techniques passed down from generation to generation. While the form of the scarf is deceivingly simple, it takes more than 30 different steps to become that timeless piece of pure, luxurious comfort. Woven on traditional looms, washed in local spring water and then brushed with care to ensure a super-soft finish, the delicate craftsmanship is unmistakable.
Cashmere is an integral part of the Burberry DNA. To drive positive change in the cashmere industry, Burberry is working with organisations such as the Sustainable Fibre Alliance on restoring grasslands, animal welfare and fair wages for cashmere goat herders. The Burberry Foundation is also partnering Oxfam and PUR Projet to build a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive cashmere supply chain for the future, and to support the social and economic empowerment of rural communities in Afghanistan.
