30 of the season’s newest bags to have and to hold – for now and forever.
Loco for Logos
You know you’ll always have the most bang for your buck when you buy a bag with a logo-clad buckle or monogram design. Fendi’s “FF” pattern, Louis Vuitton’s “LV” monogram or Chanel’s famous “CC” logo are familiar and timeless logos we have all come to love and lust for. This Spring, designers continued the trend with refreshing new logos and monogram on classic handbag designs that looks set to remain an evergreen statement. Brands like Miu Miu debut their first ever monogram this season and French brand Chloé introduced the new “C” logo seen on various styles of bags.
Gold School
A vintage-inspired bag is a great asset to own because despite it looking retro, it’s a trend that will always have a relevant place in fashion. And a classic top-handle purse in a structured shape always lends a 50s’ throwback. It’s also great look for when you want to add a little femininity to your everyday outfit. So, if you’re searching for that nostalgic piece to buy this spring, you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of options. The problem is deciding which one to buy!
Good Ol’ Tote
It’s a category of bags that in recent seasons have been neglected in favour of everyone’s obsession with petite sized bags. But it’s coming back with a stylish vengeance thanks to designers like Maria Grazia Chiuri who launched the Dior book tote in Spring 2018 and Fendi’s Silvia Venturini Fendi who consistently showed us fresh new ideas on the brand’s iconic Peekaboo – this season is its most interesting by far with compartmentalised exterior pockets. And, if you’re an Hermes fan, you’ll be happy to know that after a long hiatus, the brand has finally showed new reiterations of the Herbag – one of the many cult bags from the revered French luxury house.
Tiny Time
Mini bags mean big business for many fashion houses. It may have started out as an experiment to see how far it’ll succeed but so far, these babies are gaining traction like wildfire. So how do you make these small wonders more interesting? Well, make it even smaller and more unique of course! Designers are not fussed if we can fit our smartphones into our micro purses. As long as it looks cute, who cares about practicality, right?
Basket Case
There are a multitude of options in a variety of price range to suit your style whether you’re a Brooklyn hipster or a chic Parisian. Spanish luxury goods house Loewe started with a few basket designs a few seasons ago and have since become the go-to brand for designer luxury baskets.
Fancy That!
Everyone has a regular bag but not everyone has a bag shaped like an egg (cue Louis Vuitton) or Mickey’s head (you can always count on Gucci to think of something outrageous). You may think that these one-of-a-kind bags are seasonal items, but these bags are more than just arm candies. It’s a conversation starter, mood enhancer and just a joy to own. Now tell us if that’s not worth investing your hundred dollar bills!
