Femininity reigns from ladylike footwear, sophisticated pearls and evergreen handbags.
The Grown-Up Handbag
Belt bags were all the rage these past few seasons, but designers seem to he headed back the old-school route with shoulder sling, top handle and cross-body bags. We especially love the hints of the classic Seventies colour palette of brown and beige as seen at Celine, Loewe and Fendi.
What a Waist!
The belt may just be one of fall-winter’s most important accessory. Seen cinched on a suit at Saint Laurent and on a trench coat at Bottega Veneta, but perhaps the most interestingly styled at Versace over a cocktail dress, take it from us and don’t leave home without one.
Heads Up
It’s the season to be experimental with your dressing as there are a gamut of head toppers to match any outfit. Take your pick from berets, beanies to unusual styles like JW Anderson’s hat guaranteed to get you loads of likes. Or if you’re feeling cute, Loewe has a couple of head-turning choices too.
Power of Pearls
It may be associated with elegance and sophistication but the smartest way to wear your pearls this Fall is with less glam, and more grit.
Heavy-Duty Boots
Look to Loewe and Alexander McQueen for some stellar examples on how to pair your dresses with chunky boots this season. Some favourites styles include Prada’s combat boot with strap-on pockets and Dior’s glossy hiking boot.
The Comeback Clutch
It’s taken a back seat for a while now but since Daniel Lee introduced the oversized clutch in his debut show for Bottega Veneta, clutch bags seem to be gaining more traction. Lee updated his buttery soft version into a textured version this season but we’re also crushing on the furry carryalls at Chloé and the snuggly pillow clutches at Maison Margiela.
Dainty Feet
It’s clear that the novelty of the sneaker have ended as designers are slowly but surely embracing the allure of ladylike shoes. Think pretty kitten-heeled pumps, sexy strappy embellished sandals and block-heeled maryjanes.
