A gesture of love.
If you find yourself craving for that human touch in this new world characterised by social distancing and tentative wariness about the road ahead, you are not alone. That longing to connect with another human being, along with the rollercoaster of emotions we go through, are what makes us human.
Maison Valentino’s latest campaign #ValentinoEmpathy hopes to evoke that ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Communicated across cultures and borders, regardless of language and differences, the campaign is a reminder that human connections cannot be weakened by physical distances. We are not alone, and we are in this together.
Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, together with friends of the House of Valentino including artists and models, have activated this worldwide movement labelled with the hashtag #ValentinoEmpathy. Each of them, dressed in the Maison’s latest Fall/Winter 2020-2021 collection, is photographed where they are living, and by the person they are tiding over these challenging times with, adding a deeper level of engagement in this act to connect.
The #ValentinoEmpathy campaign goes beyond the symbolic message it holds and into action. The protagonists of the campaign will donate their presence – a total of 1 million Euros – to the Italian Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital in Rome, the Italian hub battling COVID-19. This campaign is a love letter to the home of Valentino, and will not be the end of this partnership. This collaboration will extend to the medium and long term with various projects, as Valentino continues to support the hospital’s efforts to fight the pandemic as it enters different phases in the near future.
