Defining your style begins with a curated closet. Fashion director Sharon Tulasidas sheds light on where to start.
Today, a stylish woman’s wardrobe does not consist of just a few key essentials, such as a blazer, white shirt, blue jeans, grey pencil skirt, little black dress, sensible pumps, smart dress watch…
Women are more fashionably savvy and not to mention, incredibly discerning, and they are craving for unconventional pieces to be thrown into the basic mix — think flare trouser suits, printed kaftans, dressy combat boots and even boudoir-inspired separates for wearing out of the bedroom.
But putting together this nouveau-chic list can be a daunting task, especially if you’re on a budget and unsure of where and how to begin shopping.
Start by studying your daily look from head-to-toe. Pick out at least six to seven everyday dress items that you can’t leave home without, then add on a list of approximately six to eight other items, which will complement these must-haves. That will give you a smart edit of at least 15 wardrobe essentials to kick start your shopping list.
Then again, here’s Curatedition’s lazy girl’s guide to making a list of Top 15 Wardrobe Essentials. We’ve even included the go-to brands for each item so you can thank us later.
