Snippets of the whimsical world of Japanese ceramic studio Suna Fujita add a magical touch to Loewe’s SS24 pre-collection.
United by a shared devotion to craft and the penchant for translating creative imagination to works of mastery, Loewe and Kyoto-based ceramic studio Suna Fujita collaborated on a magical Holidays collection defined by uplifting colours and whimsical characters.
The essence of this festive collaboration comes through in a short documentary film where Suna Fujita founders Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano narrate how they draw inspiration from natural landscapes and animals. They translate stories filled with imagination, childhood memories, and life with their son and pet dog, on hand-painted ceramics such as teapots, cups, and plates.
This time, their unique and whimsical characters take on a new life in Loewe’s SS24 pre-collection. From knitwear, jersey and denim, to the brand’s signature bags, slippers, wallets, and accessories, you’ll find the touch of childlike joy of Suna Fujita’s miniature worlds manifested through Loewe’s exquisite craftsmanship.
Standing out in the collection is a deep-green Hammock bag that serves as the backdrop to a little boy sitting in a cloud-pruned tree, feeding a small yellow bird. Nearby, a panda climbs a branch, while another comically slumps down at the base of the tree trunk — each detail vividly presented by intricate leather marquetry.
The smaller accessories are just as exquisite as they are imaginative: Be enchanted by a mandragora root and otter reimagined as the softest toys, and find the same otter adorning polka-dot cardholders. Or get acquainted with a mischievous lemur that swings around the handle of a Hammock bag, and an adorable seal that appears as a felt bag charm.
Add a touch of whimsical magic this holiday season with the Loewe x Suna Fujita collection. Part of the proceeds of whichever creation you choose to purchase from this collection, goes to the Save the Children’s Education in Emergencies programme. The programme works to guarantee safe and protective learning environments for children in humanitarian crisis situations around the world.
